About This Piece

This painting took three days to paint. (10 am to 6 pm each day, with breaks for water and lunch.) The people who run the Kootenay Stone Centre were very kind to me, and were really excited to have an artist working on their property. They invited everyone from their Church to come and watch me paint.

This piece was interesting to do because every time the light changed, I saw different things. In real life, most of the scene would appear to be in shadow, while the sun travels through it over the course of the day, lighting up one section at a time.

I painted each section as it was lit up, and then moved on to the next section as the light came on to it.
