About This Piece

This painting was created from a set of photos found in an old box. I have no idea how old they are or who took them, or even where this is, but I was fascinated by how the sunlight streams down into the lake, like ladders for angels to climb up and down, like in the story of Jacob at Bethel, which is one of my favourites.

I had fun painting the trees and houses in the foreground, as well. I used some really small round brushes to get the branches to look right, and then smeared various shades of watered down green over top with a large bright, to make the branches show through. Then I added the houses, and then I added another layer of trees over top of the houses.
