Pirates!

This was a Simply Art IAC challenge, issued by Susan Hay Curtis in mid-July of 2021.

The tasks were:

  1. Draw the map that the pirates discovered, that shows the location of the treasure
  2. Design an outfit suitable to wear on this journey
  3. Design a flag for the pirate ship
  4. Show the ship
  5. Show the shoreline where the pirates make landfall
  6. Show the treasure that the pirates discovered.

I combined 3, 4, and 5 together, to save time. I used my own photos for most of the references - for the pirate outfit, I took inspiration from a girl's pirate costume seen on Pintrest.

Obviously our treasure is somewhere near Canada, with all those bison and bears. I'm not completely sure how these Great Plains creatures ended up on an island - perhaps they hitched a ride with pirates somehow. Can you find the "x" that marks the spot where our treasure is?

I went with red and pale blue for my pirate outfit. I especially like my bandana and my belt. There are also a great many hidden pockets, so I don't have to carry a purse.

Here is our mighty ship and our "I Heart Pirates" flag design. We aare closing in on Norringtonport Landing - you can see the lighthouse from here. It's going to be rough walking to get to the settlement - I hope we don't run into any bears!

"The Golden Rule" is really the only treasure that lasts forever and pays dividends immediately. But don't be discouraged - behind that door is enough loot to keep us all, together with our children and grandchildren - assuming none of them gamble or make poor investments - in fine chocolate and nice jewelry for decades to come.
